Why should I learn American Sign Language?
ASL is the primary language used by people who are Deaf and hearing-impaired in the US & Canada. It is easy to learn, fun, & useful for everyone, including those who are Hearing (say goodbye to shouting across crowds & hello to communicating through windows)! Learning ASL promotes brain health & development for all ages, & opens a whole other world of community & connection. I use it often in the hospital, church, & with friends!
About the Teacher
Hannah was first introduced to ASL as a child, when she watched a VHS tape of someone teaching introductory words for kids. This opened a new world of communication for her, and she found every opportunity to learn more about Sign Language over the years: memorizing the alphabet, taking introductory classes in high school, and watching videos. While receiving her undergraduate education, she officially studied ASL at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she completed up to Level 4 of American Sign Language. Since then, she has tutored and taught several virtual ASL classes, and is excited for you to join this course!
